Stefanos Pavlakis’ art practice is rooted in a relational approach to sites, communities or groups, and their histories. Pavlakis considers his art as a mediating practice, an unearthing and re-contextualising of contents. Through his practice he seeks to develop an ever-changing aesthetics of forms, media or formats, as a result of a close engagement with a people, a place or an event.
Stefanos Pavlakis has exhibited nationally and internationally. Exhibitions include: ‘5 Rooms’ (Kappatos Gallery, Athens) ‘Rotterdam Internationaal’ (Cruise Terminal of the historic Holland-America line, Rotterdam) ‘Vertical Hold’ (Punch Gallery, Seattle), ‘Carambolage’ (Rathausgalerie, Munich) ‘In Transition’ (The National Centres of Contemporary Art, Yekaterinburg and Moscow) ‘Velocity’ (Audio Art on the Coastal Rail Route from Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness) ‘Living Language’ (East Gallery Stratford, London).
